So, my question to you: Can you outline the full process you used to install 10.9 Mavericks on your Early 2008 Xserve? Did you have to upgrade from that last supported OS, 10.7 Lion? Did you somehow manage to do a clean install? Do you need to utilize an alternate bootloader like Chameleon? I'm glad there are others like me with enterprise Apple servers that want to run the latest OS X on them. I haven't been able to objectively assess any performance differences because I've been too distracted by the moving menu bar on my three-monitor setup and haven't stopped smiling since I first booted up! The built-in X1300 graphics card is the same as in 10.8: it works but without any acceleration, so is fine if you are running headless or have another graphics card installed. All I had to do to make it run was add my board ID - F42289C8 - to ist in /System/Library/CoreServices/. I can confirm that 10.9 runs flawlessly on my 2008 Xserve.
